Frequently asked questions
What is Pophunt?
Pophunt is a community-driven map app for discovering ephemeral local events — pop-up shops, brand activations, markets, and other short-lived happenings near you.
Which cities does Pophunt cover?
Pophunt currently covers five UK cities: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and Edinburgh. If you're outside one of these, the app shows the nearest covered city's events instead.
How do I post a popup?
Tap the Post button in the app's bottom navigation (you'll need to be signed in). Fill in the title, description, dates, location, and an optional cover photo, then submit — it appears on the map right away.
How do I report an event or comment?
Open the event or comment and use its report action. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team; events that accumulate enough reports or downvotes from established accounts are automatically hidden pending review.
How do upvotes and downvotes work?
Votes help surface real, currently-running popups and bury stale or incorrect listings. Each device gets one vote per event, and it can be changed or removed at any time.
How do I export or delete my data?
In the app, go to Settings. "Export my data" sends you a JSON copy of everything tied to your account; "Delete account" permanently removes your account and its data. Both are also described in our Privacy Policy.
I can't sign in / forgot my password
Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen to get a reset link by email. If you signed up with Google, Facebook, or Apple, sign in with that same provider instead — Pophunt doesn't set a separate password for social accounts.
Can I request a new city?
Yes — send us a message below with the city you'd like to see. We prioritise new cities based on demand.
Legal notices, privacy requests, and appeals
You do not need an account to report a legal or safety concern. Email [email protected]. Suggested subject: Legal notice, Privacy request, or Appeal. These labels are optional; we also accept requests through the form below.
- Include the event, comment, or profile link, identify the material concerned, explain the issue, and tell us how to contact you. If a comment has no separate link, include its event link and the comment text or posting time.
- For copyright concerns, identify the original work, the image or text used on Pophunt, and whether you are the rights holder or their authorised representative.
- For defamation concerns, give your name and email, the exact statement and where it appears, why it is defamatory of you, the meaning you attribute to it, and which facts are inaccurate or opinions unsupported. Say whether you have sufficient information to bring proceedings against the poster and whether you consent to us sharing your name and email with them.
- For privacy requests, identify the information about you and what you want us to do. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm your identity. Please do not send passwords or identity documents with your initial message.
- For an appeal, identify the decision or content and explain why you think we should reconsider it. You can reply to an earlier response.
We prioritise urgent safety and legal concerns and aim to acknowledge messages within two working days. This is a service target, not an extension of any legal deadline. Privacy-rights requests are normally answered within one month; we will explain any lawful extension or refusal.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services. Do not upload or email suspected child sexual abuse images; provide a link or description of the location instead.
We use information in your message to investigate and respond. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle it. We may ask for missing details, but you do not need to use legal terminology to raise a concern.
